President Trump’s Executive Orders urge the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to weaken its radiation standards to expedite the push across the U.S. for nuclear-powered data centers and more nuclear weapons and reactors.

Dangerous Invisible radioactive contamination and pollution will increase everywhere.

As nuclear watchdog organizations, we are raising the alarm and taking action against this corrupt process.

Current standards do not protect enough, especially women and children.

Current standards allow:

• 1 fatal cancer in every 286 men exposed for a lifetime to the radiation permitted each year.

• Total cancers in the elderly, all women, and especially children would be even higher.

Billions of dollars have already been paid by the government to US radiation victims many of whom were exposed below the current standards.

In 2021, after six years of investigation, the NRC reaffirmed the science they use as the basis for their standards, which indicates even one radioactive particle can cause cancer.  The proposed change would contradict this well-established science.

Weakening standards further will increase disastrous health impacts. NOT just cancers. These impacts include immune dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke, infertility, and disruption of pregnancy.

Radiation protection standards should be markedly strengthened, not gutted.
